In 2007 I was one of four artists commissioned to create work for The Shape of Things conference held at Bristol’s City Museum and Art Gallery.
I created a series of rings made from plastic shopping bags. The rings were stitched and formed into wearable rings. Each attendee received a ring in exchange for a till receipt. The aim of the exchange was to engage and involve the wearer in the process.
The Shape of Things has launched the first exhibition. Rosa and Alinah are amongst eight artists, including Seiko Kinoshita, Halima Cassell, Tanvi Kant, Taslim Martin, Chien Wei Chang and Maggie Scott who have been awarded bursaries by the shape of things to create new work for exhibition at four venues across the country, starting with Bristol’s City Museum & Art Gallery. The other venues are:
Bilston Craft Gallery - Wolverhampton – 1st May to 10th Jul 2010
Touchstones Rochdale - 17th Jul to 3rd Oct 2010
City Gallery Leicester – 2011
Flow Gallery London will hold a group selling show of work by artists awarded the shape of things bursaries in October - Nov 2010
