Jacqueline Mina is one the UK’s leading artist goldsmiths. With a long and distinguished career, this exhibition unites, for the first time, significant loans from public and private collectors, alongside a vibrant collection of newly created works.  Each piece shows Jacqueline’s uniquely free and innovative approach to precious materials – an approach which has won her many accolades including the Jerwood Jewellery Prize in 2000 – and demonstrates how her techniques have developed over the past 30 years. Jacqueline’s technical brilliance, allied with her strong artistic curiosity has resulted in a range of sensuous, understated work, which has a rare aesthetic presence in the field of contemporary gold jewellery.

Her jewellery can be found in private collections worldwide and in major museums ranging from the Victoria & Albert Museum in London to the Museum of Art and Design in New York

Going Dutch
13 January – 5 March 2011

A very interesting and inspiring exhibition hosted at Gallery Flow called Going Dutch.  The exhibiton examines how makers and designers use materials in an exciting and subversive way. Giving the objects they produce playfulness and originality typical to Dutch design.

The necklace below is by artist Terhi Tolvanen. Her work explores the relationship between man and nature; the dialogue between control and freedom. Tolvanen is fascinated by the human inter ference in nature; the traces that are left behind by the organizing or controlling of nature. Nature “fights back”, i t keeps on growing and changing. This unpredictable power of life is a source of inspiration.
